Who Am I?

Kate’s career started in 1980 with 13 years in banking as an analyst and operations manager with NatWest, Westpac and Paribas. She moved into consultancy for 6 years with Perot Systems (now Dell) forming their international change consulting practice and delivering on large-scale IT projects in banking and the public sector. The projects on which she worked were amongst Perot’s most profitable. In 1999, she founded leadership development consultancy, SKAI Ltd, acting as Finance Director and Head of Coaching. She conducted a number of research projects notably into the critical differences between inspiring vs. uninspiring leaders. SKAI won many long-term preferred supplier contracts in numerous government departments, usually against much bigger competitors. Kate was appointed non-executive advisor on leadership to the Ministry of Defence 2007– 2010. She became an independent as Kate Lidbetter Ltd. in 2009.

Kate has maintained a coaching portfolio for 15 years and works often long-term with a client base of CEOs, Permanent Secretaries, Investment Bankers, NHS leaders and others. She is currently designing and delivering an award-nominated leadership programme using her own model for the top 250 leaders of a major outsourcer. She was recently engaged on a project with the University of Surrey to coach unemployed senior managers back to work and has a personal success rate of over 90%. She is careers advisor to the University’s MBA programmes and a visiting lecturer on Leadership. Kate also runs a CV writing service, Magic CVs - www.magiccvs.com

Kate is 50, married with twin 12-year old daughters and lives in Surrey. She was a founder member of a contemporary choir that won an album deal and now runs her own local choirs. Her favourite films are, rather unsurprisingly, The Blues Brothers, Moulin Rouge and Hairspray.

Kate is a Chartered Associate of the Institute of Financial Services, has an MBA (Henley), is a Chartered Business Coach with the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches, is a member of the Association of Professional Executive Coaches and Supervisors and has an MA in Business Coaching from Middlesex University.

“I have known Kate since 2006 and was impressed by the clarity and practicality of the leadership approaches she was developing at that time. Since then, I have asked her to provide specific support to a number of high potential leaders in the NHS and wider health sector. Feedback has been positive and vitally, these individuals are performing at the very top of their game.” Managing Director of Consultancy associated with Cambridge Judge and Imperial Business Schools.
